who is behind all this

Life is shaped by perspective,
Photography is where we’re invited to see through someone else’s .
My name is Shane West Pierce. Those who know me well call me Muck—a childhood nickname my mother gave me when I was still small, long before I understood how names can carry history, affection, and belonging. I am a photographer, artist, and studio owner drawn to the places where beauty is often overlooked. My work lives primarily in boudoir and portraiture—spaces where people arrive carrying stories, insecurities, strength, and softness all at once. I also photograph pets, headshots, cosplay, small events, and real estate, and create one-of-a-kind digital art pieces. Different subjects, different challenges—but always the same intention: to see clearly, and to reflect that seeing back to the person in front of me.
Photography entered my life early. When I was thirteen, my late sister handed me my first 35mm film camera. She sparked something in me that never truly left, even when life pulled me in other directions.
For many years, I worked as a trauma nurse in a busy emergency room. I saw the rawest edges of humanity—loss, grief, sudden endings. Over time, the weight of that world made it harder to find beauty in it. After a serious illness and a near-death experience of my own in 2020, I picked up my camera again—not as a hobby, but as a lifeline.
Photography became how I mend what was worn down. It’s how I choose to put something good back into the world.
When I photograph someone, I’m not chasing perfection or performance. I’m looking for truth—for presence. I want my clients to feel safe, confident, and fully themselves, whether they’re stepping into a boudoir session, standing proudly beside their pet, or trusting me to document something meaningful to them.
My approach is calm, collaborative, and grounded. I don’t rush moments. I don’t force emotion. I create space—so what’s already there can surface naturally.
I believe tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. That belief has shaped everything about how I work. Photography keeps me anchored in the here and now—letting go of the past, easing anxiety about the future, and honoring what exists in this moment.
Outside the studio, I’m supported by a loving husband and endlessly proud of my daughter, whom I adopted as a single parent when she was eighteen months old and who is now navigating college and her own becoming.
This work is not just what I do. It’s how I live. It’s how I see. And it’s how I help others see themselves—clearly, honestly, and without apology.
